Studies in Japanese Literature and Culture

Studies in Japanese Literature and Culture is an international, English-language, peer-reviewed journal that welcomes the submission of manuscripts on a broad variety of topics that (1) relate to Japanese literature and (2) make use of pre-1900 primary sources.
The English online journal ‘Studies in Japanese Literature and Culture (SJLC)’ was launched in July 2018 as part of the dissemination of research results from “Borders and Japanese Literature: Constructing a Platform of Knowledge,” which was collaborative research at “Project to Build an International Collaborative Research Network for Pre-modern Japanese Texts (NIJL-NW Project).” Volumes 1 through 5 were published by the Center for Collaborative Research on Pre-Modern Texts.
From Volume 6 onward, the journal has been managed by the International Collaboration Division and features papers covering a wide range of fields related to Japanese literature and pre-modern Japanese texts.
