“Japanese Classics Day” was established on November 1, 2008, which was the 1,000th anniversary of The Tale of Genji. The Committee for the ousandth Anniversary for the Tale of Genji (name changed to “The Committee for Promoting Classics Day) declared to the nation that “November 1st is Japanese Classics Day”. This day was later enshrined into law. At our institute, a memorial lecture is scheduled to be held on November 2 (Sat), 2019.
